PLASTOCKS - Chemical Building Blocks for Bioplastics Production from Sustainable Feedstocks

The programme will incorporate the development of novel thermo enzymatic treatments to extract clean glucose fractions from grasses and other sources of biomass, both at lab scale and at a larger pilot scale.

The programme will develop a novel anaerobic digestion process to produce other targeted chemical building blocks for the production of PHA bioplastics, both at lab scale and at a larger pilot scale.

The programme will incorporate the production of PHA bioplastics from both of these sources of sustainable feedstocks which, when blended together will produce an attractive low cost range of bioplastics

The programm will incorporate the testing of these bioplastics to determine their suitability for industrial and consumer applications
